Hi All,
My Laptop is a Dell Inspiron B130 (bought an year ago) and it currently has only 512MB of RAM.
I would like to upgrade it to 1 or 2 GB.
Is there any particular technology or a model that I should buy?
or will any Laptop RAM card will work?
Thanks in advance![]()

Your laptop uses Pc 4200 which runs at 533MHz. Your laptop has a maximum memory capacity of 2Gb.
This memory will work in your laptop:
Its a 1GB pc4200 sodimm module.

Buying 2 sticks separately is like $5.00 less than buying a kit of 2 identical 1gb cards.

Since there are good black friday door buster deals, If I buy any Laptop RAM with 533MHz will it work? ( such as this one)
or are there any other factors that I should look in to? -
No, that memory card wont work well, as its a 2gb sodimm memory card.
WHen I say that your laptop has a maximum capacity of 2gb, that means that each one of the two sockets, has a maximum capacity of a 1Gb module.
Your not going to save much through black friday, your going to be fooled into buying cheap crap memory. If you want memory that works, get corsair, crucial, kingston or Ocz. Anything else, is low quality, especially PNY.

Thanks for the reply.
So If I buy a 1GB RAM I can use it with my existing 512MB RAM? -
Given below is the exact spec of my Laptop
- Inspiron B130
- IntelĀ® CeleronĀ® M Processor 380 (1.60 GHz/400MHz FSB/1M L2 Cache),
- Memory 512MB DDR2 SDRAM 1 Dimm
In this thread I saw something about two memory speeds.
- For Celeron 400MHz
- For Pentium 533MHz
So I just wanted to make sure this RAM will work for me. If not pls suggest me another one. -
Yes, that memory will work in your system, and you can have a 512mb card and a 1gb card in your laptop.
If you want to check your memory speeds, download a copy of CPU-Z, and go to the memory tab. It will tell you the speed of your memory.
