I have a Studio 15 a little over a year old. Currently has 4gb RAM. I have never attempted to replace RAM myself. Would this be fairly easy?? Also, anyone know of a good source and pricing for 8 gigs of RAM?

Do you really need to upgrade would be the question? What apps are you running to justify the upgrade?

I own the Studio 1537 and have upgraded the processor, RAM, hard drive and wireless card on mine. Everything is super easy to change, especially the RAM. Just have to remove the back cover, disconnect the battery and change it out.

Are you running 32 bit or 64 bit? If you're running 32 bit you can't upgrade beyond the 4GB you already have.

I spent over $150 for mine and got it from Crucial as I think they are the best out there.

    I run 64 Bit Win 7 OS
Just wanted to get a game or two. If RAM increase is not important I would like to skip it and save the money.

Check your task manager while you have your normal used programs open. If it isn't using more than 3.5GB's you should be fine. Really, unless you're getting Windows Low Memory Warning, there's no need to upgrade.

If you want to upgrade, any 4GB x 2 DDR2 kit should work.

The only reason why I upgraded the RAM in mine cause I do a lot of photo editing and needed it for that.

For games, a video card is much more useful than RAM is. The problem is we can't upgrade the video cards in the Studio's.
