Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and searching for a little advice before buying some RAM upgrades. I used the search function and looked for some threads on this subject but nothing of specifics came about (everyone on any forum knows how frustrating it is to answer a question that's been asked 1,000 times in another thread).

I have a dv9610us model HP and am looking for an upgrade on my RAM. I have the stock 1GB and want to jump it up to 3GB which is the highest I can go even though it supports 4GB (I have the 32-bit Vista not 64). So my question is will this RAM that I found on newegg work well for me, and will the 2GB stick work ok with the stock stick or should I get a corsair 1gb stick also to match the components? (dual-channel doesn't really matter since I can't go 4gb right?)

    CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Laptop Memory - Retail - I can't post the link since it's only my first post.

Or if you have other suggestions please feel free to provide them. All help is appreciated. Thanks.

I believe that that RAM will work for you. As long as it's 200-pin DDR2 you should be fine. Make sure you get 667 MHz RAM, as it's the fastest your computer will support.

I would go with the cheapest brand, because as far as I've seen it really does matter, but I think Corsair is a good brand.

You do not need to match the RAM, there is a JEDEC standard which RAM complies too.

Yes that RAM will work fine. If you get 2gb+1gb it will not run on Dual channel mode, it will run on Intel Flex mode instead since the sizes dont match. Dual channel isnt a big deal at all, performance increase is like small to none. I wouldnt worry about it.
