    Hi everyone,

I have a dell xps m1530 laptop that I bought this past summer, and I have 4GB of memory for it, of the 667mhz variety.

My question is, can I possibly upgrade the memory dimms to memory of a higher speed? I've heard of all the 800 and 1033mhz kinds, but I assume compatibility of such an upgrade relies upon the motherboard capabilities? Do any of you know of the mobo of the m1530 can support higher memory speeds, and if so would it be worth it to perform such an upgrade to get higher speeds in 3d modeling programs?

The chipset of the XPS M1530 can only make use of Pc5300 memory, so there is no point in upgrading the memory to a higher clocked memory. If you install Pc6400 memory it will automatically downclock to Pc5300 speeds.
