    Hi all,

So I plan to buy a Dell 9300 and upgrade the RAM myself using crucial memory or something like that but I notice there's 2 different sizes selling on newegg, pricewatch, crucial, dell.

Supposedly, all are 200 pin ddr2 533 MHz but when you look at pics, there's a difference in where the notch is positioned. Crucial and other places seem to say that it guarantees it's compatible. How is this possible? Doesn't the notch affect where it is.

The Dell ones has the notch about 4/9 of the way over and some other ones have it 1/5 of the way over. Is it that the 1/5 of the way over ones are shorter where the left side is shorter and right side is same length? Does this affect anything?

They are using wrong pictures. The pic in the dell link is actually that of a desktop (168 pins)! The one on the crucial website is correct.

But don't bother yourself with the pics ... as long as they say DDR2, 200pin, & SoDimm (designates it for notebooks) you are getting the right product. Actually just saying that it is DDR2 and 200 pin is enough ... the DDR2 for desktops only come in 168 pins

Never trust what you see ... the product in most cases will look different [ :D]
