    Hi,

I have an ASUS UL30A and would like to upgrade RAM if possible - 4Gb at this moment and would like to go for 8 Gb.
    Is this possbile?

Chipset Mobile IntelĀ® GS45 Express Chipset.
    Windows 7 Home premium x64

Some people (including ASUS specs for UL30A) says that max is 4Gb, but some others indicate that actually it is 8Gb...

    Thanks!

Looks like your laptop takes DDR3 RAM, so it should be feasible, but honestly, I personally wouldn't bother with such an old platform. The ULV core 2 duo CPU in it is much more likely to be a bottleneck these days than the RAM.

    See:

This notebook was great when it was introduced and as the article indicates, 8GB is possible.

However, I agree with tijo that the performance a fully updated O/S and Programs require today far surpasses what the platform can offer.

If the RAM is returnable it is worth trying just so you can see how much of a difference it may make in your workflow. But more than likely, the current requirements of even the most basic workflow (even browsing) is above the ULV processor based platform from 6 years ago.
