I have a Sempron 3300+ and I was wondering about a RAM upgrade. Since the graphics card chews into the system RAM some (32-128mb) it leaves me with less than the advertised 512 mb in the notebook. And I would say I am shooting for about 1 GB, as more wouldn't be as cost effective and less would probably be a waste of money. The purpose is mostly to squeeze a few more FPS out of the Mobile Radeon Xpress 200M IGP on games such as CS:S and HL2.
So if I did upgrade to higher RAM which kind should I choose (I know desktop RAM well, but notebook RAM I am not very sure about.) The notebook originally uses two sticks of PC2700 RAM at 256mb each.
Thank you for your time.

The Sempron should be capable of handling memory upto DDR400(PC 3200) 200pin SODIMM's. But some laptops might be finicky about accepting faster RAM than what is shipped with, so you could either get PC3200 or to be on the safe side PC2700. Get a 1GB stick since the Sempron will not see any benefits of dual channel. This will also allow you to use the extra 256MB stick if you want to. Check out Crucial, Kingston, OCZ, Corsair - they all have memory configurators online with recomendations for specific laptop, you can then shop around at different stores for memory of the same specifications.
