I am about to upgrade RAM for my SZ Vaio (to 1G x 2G DDR2 533, PC4200). There are many brands on the market. Checked out on the webs, found the price is also varied, according to different brands.

What should you recommend to chose among brands:
    1) cosair,
    2) transend,
    3) infineon,
    4) kingmax,
    5) Kingston
    6) any else?

for notebooks it generally doesnt matter. Just get the correct speed and you should be fine.

I would recommend brands like Kingston, OCZ, Corsair and G.SKILL, but buying others does not matter as much as it does to desktops. When overclocking memory on a desktop, things matter, and the primary concern is the ODM for the memory modules. In laptops, if the speed, size and latency are the same, then it is the same memory (even if the modules are different, as OCing is not a big concern).

I have a stick of Corsair and another stick of Patriot RAM in my notebook.

    Both work great.

All of the above are good and I've had 2 sticks of Mushkin (2 x 1gb) with no problems.

As long as its a well known brand like the ones above and mentioned then you should expect quality.

Here are brands that are known for quality:

    - G.Skill
    - Corsair
    - Kingston
    - Mushkin
    - Patriot
    - OCZ
    - A-Data

Usually the G.Skill RAM is the cheapest, so I would get that. G.Skill is a great RAM company that offers a lifetime warranty on all the RAM they make.
