    Hi!

I'm trying to decide between a Dell Inspiron 9400 (aka E1705) with either an Intel Core Duo Processor T2250 (1.73GHz/533MHz FSB) or an Intel Core Duo Processor T2500 (2.0GHz/667MHz FSB). I'll be using the computer mainly for RPG games like Obliveon.

How key is the FSB speed for gaming?

I intend to buy within the next 2 months, I was wondering if I'd be better off waiting for a better deal on a 667MHz FSB processor or go with a good deal I might have on the 533MHz?

    Any thoughts?

    Mith

Faster is better, and with a game like Oblivion you'll need all the speed and power you can get. Spend the extra cash for the higher processor. Now the difference between 533mhz ram and 667mhz ram is minimal because of increased CAS latecy, but the 667 is still a little bit better. If you get the 2500 you can get 667 ram.

You won't notice a difference between 533MHz and 667MHz RAM:

As long as you have a Core Duo, gaming performance should be quite good, although I'd at least go for the T2400. Oblivion is much more dependant on the CPU than other games, and the faster you can get, the better. I wouldn't go past a T2500 because of the premium you pay over that.

Thanks for the quick responses! That's what I assumed...

Thankfully I still have some time to monitor prices, and maybe get the faster pc for a better price in the two months I still have. Waiting is not easy though!

    Cheers!
