Interesting bits of news this week:

Crossbar's RRAM breakthrough paves way for 1TB drives | Digital Trends
The TL;DR is that RRAM is denser, faster, and more durable than Flash NAND. Thus it should enable cheaper faster and better SSDs in the future. It's unlikely we'll be able to directly purchase this any time soon, but it still seems exciting times in storage technology.
There's other competing technologies of course, like phase-change memory and memristors, but it's cool that we might see some post-NAND technology pretty soon.

Even today's fastest storage tech is still the slowest part of a typical computer ...therefore any gain there should be quite visible. -
