Turns out somebody is making lapdesks with shielding.

"And some of the new "laptop pads" or cushions that provide shielding when the computer is resting on your lap may actually work."

HOW TO LIMIT YOUR WIRELESS EXPOSURE

Will report back when I find a source.

Turns out this is something on the market from a variety of sources. The one at this link demonstrates a T42.

    Demos - Winston Technologies

    Another source:

    http://store.harapad.com/

This one which is a blanket - good idea but pricey.

Radiation Protection Products - Belly Armor | Belly Armor

This site has a variety of anti-radiation devices:

    EMF Shielding Devices for Computers

Most have to do with the EMF coming off the bottom of laptops, but the apparatus below is for the head & face area. Laptop screens are not the source of radiation - although the antennas are in the screen frame in some models (like mine) so maybe it's not such a far-fetched idea at that.

If you're so concerned about radiation, why not wear a full body radiation suit all day? Why not get a completely shielded desktop, and use only wired internet?

Is OP trolling? There is no way someone is that paranoid about this. And if they were, they probably wouldn't be using a laptop in the first place.... Just saying.

You'd be surprised about what people can be paranoid about :)

Website sounds like propaganda... besides OT. IMO this thread should be closed. No need for this garbage.

Current study show that radiation from cellphone actually increase brain activity by around 10%.

Isn't paranoia one of the symptoms of radiation poisoning from WiFi?

Who do you work for, the GOVERNMENT?! I'm on to you.... :p

Seriously though, this should be put in the Hardware section if not locked..

Tissue stimulation prompted by an external energy source.
    Only seems logical.
But I have to tell you that I always take 'studies' with a pinch of salt (as anyone should).

The question is, what will this increased brain activity produce.
Assuming it's a 'good thing' is presumptuous and arrogant.

I fairly doubt that it's going towards the concept of 'intelligence' and similar aspects, because surprisingly, most of the masses on this planet (cell phones or not) still behave like sheep.

The increased brain activity could be interpreted in various ways.
For example... the cerebral cortex might be working that much harder to counter the radiation effect.
Or it might be stimulated into producing a tumor at specific areas of the tissue, if not something else (perhaps even increased regeneration rate of brain cells).

Yes, there might also be 'good consequences', such as improved memory, observational skills, perception... you name it... but again, the question is, for how long, and how will this affect our bodies in the long run.

It depends on the frequency the radiation operates for the most part, since virtually everything has it's own frequency (our bodies as well).

OP: Have you ever considered that though your laptop has wifi, its tiny transmitter is a drop in an ocean? Think about this: Radio towers transmit signals for about 50km... How many radio stations are there where you live? Each one is blasting your body with more amplitude than wifi (assuming you're in the city).. You know what else? That static between stations on the radio is caused by radio coming from ... SPACE. Yes, the same stars that you see at night also emit low frequency (radio) EM into Earth's atmosphere. You cant get away from EM. A lead blanket wont help you, and some 3-holed piece of fired clay sure as hell wont. Just though I'd let you know.

Real Science: Radio waves are non-ionizing, as in: THEY CANNOT, EVER, CAUSE CANCER.
