2 for 1: So after getting a new palm-rest for my AW 17, Dell is sending me a new hard drive after finding an error with the secondary hard drive. I saw this error before with Intel's RST software: [IMG]

What baffled me is that the drive works fine, I can still access the files on it but they're still going to send a replacement. My problem is I don't have a backup drive for all of my files and programs and I don't really have the money to buy one. Is this a serious problem with the drive that requires me to replace it?

Secondly, this process made me rethink getting an mSATA for my computer (yes it does take one). My question is what drive would be the best in terms of price/size? I wanted at least a 500+gb drive for my boot drive just to make sure all my files on the main drive such as games etc. would have enough space.

Have you looked at the SMART data and/or tried to do a full scan of the drive with something like HDTune? A big drive with a few bad sectors could still work fine 99% of the time... but that doesn't mean it "works".

    Samsung EVO 840?

I have no idea what the SMART data is or where to go to look at. I am about to run the HDTune Po trial and see what I get.

EDIT: So I used HDTune Pro and I did an error scan and I got this: [IMG]

I'm not sure if it was the right scan to do, also it scanned my HDs as one due to RAID 0 so I don't know if that affected anything.
