I am thinking about buying a Laptop for video/audio editing and gaming. Should I buy 4 GB of ram AND the 64 bit system upgrade or should i stay with 2GB and go with the 64 bit system OS??
What are the pro's of a 64 bit OS??

In my understanding, unless you have software that is written specifically for 64-bit architecture, it won't make that much of a difference.
But with multimedia applications like the ones you're looking to do - the more RAM, the merrier. ALWAYS. -
i say more ram and 64 bit.... and the advantage is that it uses all 4gb
-
Alright. Is it easy to upgrade ram in a laptop? Im thinking about Sager/Clevo's to be specific. 5792/93. I would like to get an 64 bit os then Upgrade ram. Smart??
-
Yes, it's smart. RAM upgrades are cheap and really, very easy. I don't know about the 5792/93, but in general they are a cinch.
-
Can somebody who owns a clevo 5792/93 let me know about this.
Ram has to match am i right? Speed? -

it sure would be stupid for you to spend the extra money and then realize that XYZ Audio Editing Application only supports 32 bit.
it's amazing to me that you have 5 or 6 replies and not a single poster suggested this. -

Yeah, but it will be a significant while.
-
so are you saying many common app's wont work on the 64 bit os?? Ie. AIM, Mediamonkey, Adaware??
-
All 32-bit apps will take be able to run on a 64-bit OS. Not the other way around, though.
-
Some do not, but the list isn't very big.
