I wanted to updrade my laptop to 2 gig (currently 1 gig) so I purchased a samsung pc5300 ddr2 667 1 gig module.
When I opened the back it had no spare slots and so I had to replace both.
I then purchased what i thought was the same gig of ram but after viewing the ebay details it seems to be different...
samsung pc 5400 ddr2 667 1 gig.
Is their any difference because I'm aware that this number is rounded up and down by various manufacturers but its the same complany - samsung
do you think these chips will be compatable?
Cheers

Yes, you said it yourself, the numbers are skewed by different manufacturers. But in the end, they are exactly the same.
-
Cheers for the quick response.
I feel an idiot as the 5400 was about £10 more expensive (about the same price I paid originally for the 5300)
But just as long as they work. -
So, in reality the bandwidth available for your memory is 5336 irrespective of what number (5300 or 5400) the manufacturer claims it to be....
Rep me if this info helped you.... -
You'll get 'em.

I repped him. Can't blame a guy for trying, but I do get the point, Ha Ha. And it was a complete answer.

I couldn't get the hang of this....
First I had submitted that post and then i thought why should i type it everytime, why couldn't i put it in my siggy and then went ahead and included it in my sig, but the stupid thing is that the signature updates with my current signature for all my previous posts also, which i think is a bit confusing and stupid.....
hhhmmm, as for what i will do with the reps, nothing.....
