Hi I will be ordering this laptop from newegg.com within the next couple days.

I have never replaced or added ram and am not sure what is compatible with this laptop. I dont know much about it really I just know i need more than the 1 gig that comes with it. It seems to me this laptop is at a knockout price and just needs another 2 gigs of ram to be complete. If you have any suggestions of good quality ram that I can easily install please give them. I will add 2 gigs. I will order the ram of newegg as well. Thanks for the help.

You are after a 2x1GB DDR2 PC-5300 667mhz 200pin to be exact. It actually says it on the spec sheet of the link.
Here are your choices:

RAM brand doesnt matter as they all nearly perform the same. So i suggest getting well known brand like G.skill , kingston or corsair because they will have good support and warranty service -

Well if you want 3GBs of ram total (which is what I would recommend) get a 2GB stick of ram from newegg. You laptop comes with two slots for ram. One of the slots will already be occupied by a 1GB stick of ram. So you could add another 1GB stick to make it 2GB total. The choice is up to you.

Tim I would normally agree with your 3GB suggestion. In this case I hesitate because I have not been able to find any documentation saying AMD supports anything like Intel's "flex memory" in fact I only find documentation to the contrary. If it will not run in Dual channel I think 3GB is a bad idea. Unlike the Intel's where the single vs dual performance hit is 10% bandwidth. On my AMD Turion the hit is 30%.
Since notebook comes with 1X1GB SODIMM all you need to buy is 1X1GB SODIMM. -

I would note that the notebook in question has an nVidia chipset. I reported results for the AMD (ATI) chipset here. I would suspect that if Intel and ATI can avoid a significant performance hit with an asymmetric RAM configuration then nVidia can do it as well. 1GB + 2GB is certain to work a lot better than the 1 x 1GB supplied.

Thanks for all the help, I think now I will probably just get 2 gigs, it seems like enough and if need be i can always get more. do you think the ram that comes with a laptop like this will be good quality? In other words would buying 2x1gb ram from a good company be worth completely getting rid of the 1 gig that comes with the laptop? and have 2 gigs total? Or should I just get a 1x1gb stick and save the money.. Thanks much.
Also for one gig would i need a 240 pin card? Can someone please give some suggestions for a 1 gig stick. thx -
Save your money get 1 1GB stick, as flipfire said you need PC5300/5400 200pin SODIMM RAM. Brand does not matter NewEgg is a good place to buy make sure to get a lifetime warranty. This site has RAM Deals worth a look also.
