Ok, i bought 2x2GB of ram off OCZ, they are DDR2 PC2 6400. I am trying to install it on my sister's old Toshiba satellite r10, and it doesn't fit. Seems the Toshiba has a bigger ram but the right side of the OCZ is bigger so it doesn't fit in the RAM slow. Now is this because my sister's laptop is not compatible/too old or will i have problems installing this on my dv5t (that ships later)? The RAM on my sister's laptop is 256 MB DDR PC2700. I was trying to put the ram so i could see if it was functional.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
DDR2 is physically incompatible with plain old DDR memory. You'll have to buy plain old DDR memory for it to fit.
-
Hm ok, then it is because my sister's laptop is too old. ****... Anyway i can test if these sticks are fully functional?

It's not the direct cause, but yes, you can say that it's because the laptop's too old. The only way you're going to be able to test the memory is to stick it into a machine that accepts DDR2 memory (generally anything newer than 2005 or 2006) and run a couple loops of memtest.

How can i perform a memory test?
-
You will have to return the memory if you cannot use it. Do not cut out the upc, cause if you do, you cannot return the memory to get your money's back.
DDR memory is much more expensive, at around $60 per Gb.
You can only run a memory test on a system which can use the memory. You can use memtest to check the memory

K-TRON, i won't be using it on my sister's laptop. I have order a dv5t laptop and it won't be coming in until the end of the month, so I decided to try it on my sister's laptop. Doesn't fit but no big deal.

Relax, it more than likely will work so no need to return it just because you can't run a memory test on it.
Ram doesn't fit?
