So xoticpc is running that $50 off for a ram downgrade which would leave me with 8GB - DDR3 1333MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 SODIMMS) on a p150em. I wanted 16gb total ram though, so I was wondering if that offer would end up saving me money if I just grab another 8gb (2 x 4gb) online and install it myself, cost for that would be $41 from what I've seen online. Otherwise it's $30 for the 16gb on the order. Any thoughts or complications I haven't seen?

    Get the 8GB 1600, you won't need 16GB unless you're doing 3D creations or VM's

The buying your own ram seems reasonable, downgrade to the 8GB 1333 and sell it on ebay.

Then you can get two indentical pair of RAM (4x4GB) 1600MHz. It will be cheaper this way

Agreed with Mobius. RAM (and system drive) upgrades are always cheaper aftermarket.
