Hello, I am getting a Compaq Presario CQ57-319WM for Christmas. It comes with 2 GB of RAM already installed. Its a 64 bit Windows 7 so it will support more. I have looked on the hp website and crucial.com and can't find any for that model. I just need to know where I can buy it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You can upgrade it to at least 4GB's, as the processor is 64-bit.

The CQ57 might have one 2GB memory stick installed, or two 1GB sticks.

I'd check newegg for the memory. It uses DDR3 1066.

Okay. So if i can find DDR3 1066 memory sticks they will be compatible? And would extra memory help even if the computer has a 1.0 GHz processor? I believe thats what it is anyways.

Yeah Win7x64 thrives with more RAM.

It won't make the anemic C50/C60 or the E-350/E-450 AMD processors any faster - but it will give you a noticeably smoother computing experience. Hopefully you are getting a model with the Intel cpu options instead.

    See:

Search for memory module in the Index to see the specifications and proper removal/upgrade procedures.

    Good luck.
