The nx 8220 has 2 memory slots and one of them is easier to accss than the other. The first slot can be accessed by removing the cover from the bottom of the laptop and the second one is located beneath the keyboard and accessing it will require some disassembly. Fortunately HP's service manual details the exact steps required to access this slot...

But do remember accessing this slot may void your warranty(if any).

As for the type of RAM, the nx8220 uses 200pin DDR2 533MHz(PC4300) SODIMM's.You can choose from either Crucial, Kingston, Corsair or OCZ. They also have online memory configurators on their websites where they list compatible memory. Just use that as a reference since they tend to be priced higher than in any online store.

    Thank you, miner
And is there a big difference between 200 and 240pin DDR, because I found that nx 8220 should have 200pin

Yes, Laptop memory uses 200 pins, the 240 pins are only used in desktop memory and so are much larger in size compared to the laptop memory. Deskop memory are always reffered to as DIMM whereas laptop memory are always reffered to as SODIMM( Small Ouline).

PS - Also take note of DDR and DDR2 memory. They are incompatible with each other.
