hi everybody!! I plan to upgrade my laptop IBM z60t. However, I confuse about which brand is suit for it and which brand is orginal for IBM. I know that Kington and kingmax are very famous in this case but they quite expensive. My friend advice me a Spacer one with good price but I havent ever heard about this brand. So could anyone recommend for me one? Maybe other brand is ok, and I also note that, it's should be suitable with my laptop. Many thank.

I would say that any pc-4200 will work just fine. Some people have had issues with non-"IBM compatible" RAM, but I'm skeptical of that. Personally I have no problems with any brand.

I'm not sure what country you're buying memory in, so I can't really recommend a store. In the US www.newegg.com is a great place to start. You can find both "IBM compatible" and other types of memory there.

It really shouldn't matter what brand RAM you use. Incompatabilities due to brand are very rare.

If you have a Pentium 4-m, get:
    200 pin DDR266 PC2100 RAM

If you have a Pentium M/Celeron M/Core Duo T2x50 series, get:
    200 pin DDR533 PC4200/PC4300 RAM

    If you have a Core Solo/Core Duo T2x00 series/Core 2 Duo, get:
    200 pin DDR667 PC5400/PC5300 RAM

How do I know what processor I have???
Look at your user manual, it will tell you. Alternatively, you can download CPU-Z. It is a simple program that will tell you.
    http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

I would get 2 sticks, because they will run in dual channel and you will double your bandwidth.

I have always used and recomended Corsair and have had no problems. Kingston, G. skill, OCZ, Patriot, and Crucial are also good brands. I have not heard of the brand your friend speaks of.

Thank you for your answer. Of course I know which type of Ram should I use. I just consider about which brand is fairly good, yeah of course famous brand as you mentioned are great but the price :).
