I just got two 1Gb ram chips from OCZ, and according to SiSoftware Sandra, they were manufactured on Saturaday, December 25, 1999. That couldn't be possible, could it? Im pretty sure the feature of Sandra works because it said my hynix ram (provided by dell) was manufactured in September, 2007. They seem to run fine though.
-
Weird! Somehow I don't think that's possible.
Maybe a programming/manufacturing glitch? Everything else works fine, right? -
I have the same problem with SiSoft, It is not your RAM other 3rd party apps might read correct.
-
It doesn't really matter though, as long as it works.

I had some RAM which Sandra said was made in 2013.
Evidently the date coding isn't standard between manufacturers.
For a second opinion look on the SPD page of CPU-Z.

Seriously, you only know that Sandra gets it right with one type of RAM. That could be the only RAM stick in the world, for which it works.
Anyway, the date encoding is a bit sketchy. Odds are other programs would report a different date. And it's not even certain that the RAM sticks themselves are printed with the correct date.
Edit:
You think it works because it says your other RAM is manufactured september 2007? That is, a week from now?
Is it just me, or does that sound even more unlikely? -
Another app that can tell you the manufactured date is Lavalys Everest Home Edition, under the motherboard>SPD setting.

I see that one of my new Zepto-labelled A-Data modules is also from the Christmas day '99 production. CPU-Z gives no date at all for that module so I wonder if the date algorithm puts undated modules as one week before the start of the year 2000.
Sandra say other current module was made on 21 May 2007. CPU-Z says week 15 2007 (which is mid-April). The module was shipped to me on 19th April 2007 which would be impressive speed through the distribution chain.
I've passed this date question over to Sandra's author. I suspect the answer will be that the software developers have to us whatever information they can extract from the manufacturers.

To think that the only thing I brought back with me from the future was a 1GB stick of Kingston DDR2-800... How am I ever going to prove that I time-travelled now?
