    Ram running in Tri channel or single channel ?

    If all 3 dimm slots are occupied, will the laptop memory run in single channell mode or tri channel mode ?

    If it will not run in Tri channel mode, if only 2 dimm slots out of 3 are occupied, will the laptop memory run in dual channel mode ?

    Laptop spec:

    i5-450m
    6gb ram (2gb x 3 )

    I don't think it will run in dual channel mode. Probably can only do tri channel.

    What laptop do you have?

    No i5 has a tri channel memory controller.

    It will run in:

    1 stick - single
    2 sticks - dual
    3 sticks - hybrid (2 sticks dual, 1 stick single)

    And it will only run dual channel if the correct two slots are used.

    Well it's dual channel too. It can be hard to say for certain (Desktop boards REQUIRE slots 2 + 4 be populated first) but it should be fairly easy to check.
