Finally decided to join these forums and im glad i did. As of now i have a IBM T30 with its standard ddr pc2100 memory in it. Since one of my memory slots is dead I plan on buying a 1gig stick to replace my 256. I plan on eventually buying a Asus Wj3. My question (and im not sure of this is noobie) is can i buy the ddr2 PC2 5300 (eventually for Wj3) and use it in my IBM for the time. I don't believe so because ddr and ddr2 have different builds, but im not totally sure. Thanks

You can use faster DDR memory like PC2700, but it will run at PC2100 speed. As noted ddr2 won't work.
