    Hi guys,

I recently bought an xps 1210 and I want to upgrade the RAM. It came with 2 512's of 667mhz memory, and i was wondering what the peanut gallery's opinion on how much RAM should I get (1.5, 2, 2.5, or even 4gb's??) and what kind I should get (manufacturer, lower freq's?).

Currently running Vista home premium 32bit.

    Many thanks!

    Firm

Something like 2GB from www.NewEgg.com should get you running a little better. Just stick with a name brand, and you'll be fine.

    You'll want DDR2 200-pin SoDIMM PC5300 RAM.

    Thanks for the reply, Night.

I like to game, mainly online stuff, MMO's.... with 2GB and the shared memory of the 7400go, will 2gigs still be alright for me?

    Many thanks!

2 GB is fine for any current game, and it should last for some time yet. Good brands to consider are Corsair, Kingston, Crucial and OCZ. As night_2004 mentioned, the RAM you need is DDR2 SODIMM memory. Also, it may be worth mentioning, that anufacturers will describe 667 MHz RAM as both PC 5300 and PC 5400. They are both the same thing.

I agree. 2GB will last you longer than that laptop will. You'll be looking for a new machine before you start needing more memory than that.
