    Hi all,

I've got a sony pcg-k45 notebook, it's old, has a pentium 4 in it, and 2 slow 256mb pieces of ram in it for a total of 512. I'm got norton security pro package, and I've just been having issues opening anything large....large powerpoint documents, etc...cause it to jam for 30 seconds or so. Do you guys think I should get a faster hard drive, more ram, or do you think the norton virus scanning slows down things? If I should go for ram, what type of ram, how much, and what brand? Ditto for hard drive/internet security software. Thanks for any and all help.

    Justin

Norton is a bit of a resource hog. AVG virus and ZoneAlarm are both free and work decently. A faster hard drive will help with openning things. A fresh install of Windows will clear up any software issues. More memory always helpss.
