Is there a huge difference between the two?If I buy 2 gigs of 533 rram does it equal 1 gig of 667?
-
no to both of those. The amount of memory is the same regardless of the speed. the speed determines how fast it can be accessed by the CPU. Get the ram that matches your FSB clock or faster. If you get RAM that's clocked at more than your FSB, your RAM will be downclocked essentially making it the same as the slower ram.
Performance gains between the two are nominal but it can't hurt to get the faster ram seeing how its often cheaper on sites like newegg.com You're looking for the 200 pin ddr2 sodimms (look for dimms with the # 5300 or 5400) -
i believe the CAS Latency is more important so 533 ram at 4latence will be faster than 667 at 5.

only marginal speed increases, however.
