When I was flipping my notebook over to copy down the product code for XP, I noticed a light rattling sound. Something in the middle of the computer rolls side to side when I tilt it...

Of course it's not exactly something to get angry about, I'm wondering what it could be and if it's possible to, maybe, lift the keyboard out and look around. Could someone give me instructions on how to lift the keyboard on a dv5000z, or maybe I should contact HP support?

Also, I did notice a little metal-looking wire somewhat stick up from the crack separating the bottom of the keyboard area and the area around the touchpad. Just another reason to open it up and take a peek I guess.

Don't get me wrong, though, I LOVE my new notebook very very much. Besides my little incident with the stripping of the screw, I'm very satisfied with the notebook. ;)

Well, there are many possibilities on what might be causing the rattling. If the rattling is too annoying I would suggest contacting HP since removing the keyboard might void the warranty.

If you still want to look under the keyboard, the service manual should let you know the exact steps required...

It's really not annoying enough to open the case, I suppose. But thanks for the manual!
