    Hi guys,
I'm planning to upgrade my cpu and was just wondering if I could reuse the AS5 that I'm currently using or if it's better to apply new paste.

    Thanks in advance!

There's no doubt that it's better to apply new paste.

Ya go with new. Clean it off with Rubbing alcohol and Q-tips. Taking the heat sink off and putting it back on will create air pockets/bubbles and up goes your temps.

Maybe he's a penny pincher like myself - if I'm doing a bunch of tweaking and it's a recently applied coat I'll go and scrap off some of the old paste and reuse it XD

    Thanks for the input guys.
I'm only asking because the AS5 I'm currently using is only 1 month old. I could buy new paste, but I feel like it would be waste since I won't use all of it and will only be using it once.

Cmon, dont go cheap when AS5 is only worth $5. I'd suggest you apply new paste to get the best thermal dissipation.

Even the 5gram tubes of it is more than enough for 4-6 applications. If you meant buy another tube since since you used some out of it. No need. The stuff lasts awhile. And to even prolong its shelf life(cause it dose separate) put it in the fridge. I have AS5 from over 3 years ago. Works perfectly.

It usually comes in a syringe-like device. Or all of mine have at least...

Can you use on more than one? Can you save for later?
