I'm thinking of getting SanDisk ReadyCache SDSSDRC-032G-G26 for 40 USD but I do not know if I can just format it and use as the main system disk for my Linux.
Is this possible?

According to the feedback on your newegg link, " If you install windows or linux onto the SSD instead of using it as a ready cache it is very good,"

Actually, I found comparison of 4K read/writes for this SSD and they were very, very poor when compared to non-cache SSDs.

Theoretical maximum sequential read and write speeds aren't that far off from other SSDs, but no this own't perform equally as, say, a Crucial M4 or Samsung 830 or equivalent. Technically, you should be able to use this as an OS drive and format it for Linux - assuming there is a Linux driver for it. And with Linux's meager capacity requirement, you'd have about 20 GB + of storage to work with I think.

Here's the benchmark of SDSSDRC-032G-G26:
So in the end, my best choice is probably going to be this:

FYI, our 60GB BP4 SATA 2.5" 7mm slim is ready to ship price is comparable to the slow Sandisk drive (that drive is no faster than an HDD). The BP4 will provide you with better battery life and very good performance.
