Hello, I'm currently wondering if Readyboost will make any difference in performance for my laptop.
Specs:
Model: Sony Vaio VGN-Z555DN
Processor: Intel Core 2 Dual P8600 2.40 GHz
Ram: 4GB G.Skill 1333 DDR3
Drive: 250GB HDD 5400RPM
Graphics: GMA 4500 + nVidia 9300M GS
Here's the deal.
I currently have the Sony Magic Gate and SD slot at the front free and I was planning on buying a multicard reader adapter for the Express card 34 slot. The problem with this is I don't think having 3 card slots is necessary in regards to my needs lol. *I'm a student going into University*
So what I was planning on doing was using the 2 card slots at the front for ReadyBoost and then just use a multicard reader adapter in the express card slot. The question is will I see the any difference in performance and would any of you recommend doing this?
P.S. I also plan on swapping out the HDD to an SSD sometime next year.
Thanks in advance.

It would be useless, w/ a SSD, it will probably slow your system down.

Readyboost was expected by MS developers to be useful for users short on RAM; that way, they could use RB to function in place of expensive memory. Since Vista's inception, however, RAM prices have decreased for awhile and made Readyboost a meaningless technology.
Save your money and take a look at an SSD or Intel's Turbo memory 2.0 if you're looking for a performance upgrade. -
Alright, Thanks for the quick response.
Any ideas of what I should do with the Expresscard slot, SD slot and magic gate slot? -
It's not like you *have* to do anything with these slots per se, but you could look into getting a media remote that could be stored in the Express Card slot when not in use. Being a university student like yourself, I've found it to be very useful when studying Powerpoint lectures and when listening to music.

But I don't know how expensive that's going to be or where to even buy it lol. -

You can use eboostr3 to use or SDcard instead. It'll actually improve the "performance" of your computer a lot in certain aspects. E.g. loading thumbnails for your music collection, general responsiveness or your laptop...etc

You mean to use eboostr3 on the sd card right? Any more info on the Turbo Memory 2.0?
I tried readyboost on my Vaio TT running Windows 7 and noticed no difference in boot, shutdown or anything else. -

Also, you can checked out what has been index by eboostr. Then check out or the files which are index perform any faster. -
No, my TT came with the 160gb hdd.

Hi hikira91...
It'll be pretty good to use Readyboost to upgrade your system but make sure you need the upgrade for sure,
