Perhaps you guys have seen this:

Hard drive and SSD failure rates

Actually, if I could find the original, it had failure rates of most computer hardware components. The article was very interesting!

Just to give my two cents worth...I manage about 30 machines. Originally, I bought Crucial M225 SSDs for their 5 year warranty. They have since been discontinued, but I once read that their failure rate was right around 1%. The C300s were much worse originally due to a bad firmware.

I recently purchased 3 more laptops and this time installed the 120GB Intel X25-M in each. I purchased these because of their extremely low failure rates.

While I understand that there are faster SSDs out there, I much more care for the reliability.

    Just my opinion.

Yeah, anand vouched for those numbers and ultimately swayed me to buy a used intel drive. By comparison, a vertex is five times more likely to fail.

Here's a Newegg customer review of someone who claims to have owned a Vertex 3 for 3 months. Strange because this drive has been out for less than a month.

Are the Newegg reviews not reliable?

Some of them are not. It is like metacritic where people say that a game is awesome although they have never even touched it. Don`t know if newegg have people going over the ratings after a while and deletes the one that doesn`t belong there. I have also seen Vertex 3 ratings where people say "its the best" although they dont own one. Happens to all products where fanboys cannot help themselves :(

It seems to be about vertex 2(at least that is what I saw about the main product) with mac so it sounds very legit.

Oops my mistake. The Vertex 2 came up when I searched for Vertex 3.
