I was on the market for an SSD and I came across this
Really nice looking design IMO might be the reason why its so expensive.
What is your input on this?

Not only is it good looking but the real reason its so expensive is that it is one of the best performing SSDs on the market:

Sadly, that's cheap for us Australians..

Same state of affairs in UK as well, have a look at this:
Samsung SSD 470 series 256GB Retail 6,4cm(2,5") SATA II: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories -
Listed on the same site, just changed to US and there's already a $200 US price drop. It's blasphemy! And then to top it off they charge ridiculous prices for shipping and a little ice on the cake with import taxes.

I dont think I care how it looks
I would see it one time before installing it inside my laptop and then never see it again.

Exactly! umm, OP why do you care what it looks like?? lol -
Not sure he does. He's just saying that the design might be the reason it is so expensive...and then goes on to ask what we think of it.
So to answer your question, IMO, right now, it is the best drive out there. It's near top of the pack across the board performance wise, and it uses the least power, which is what you want in a laptop drive. So combine the great performance with the very low power usage, and you got yourself a drive worthy of a higher price compared to it's competitors. Also, you probably won't run into too many issues considering it's from Samsung. -
Well it does look pretty nice.

The first chart is very much skewed. Where are Sandforce-1200 120GB/256GB drives and Intel X-25m G2? First link is useful because it actually has useful graph, but shows the comparison between a 256GB and 32/40GB drives. Second link shows bunch of (to me) useless artificial benchmarks. Benchmarks that can very from drive to drive on the same computer. To correct your statement: Samsung is the fastest in competition of old non-SF1200 drives or 32/40GB drives from few other companies. Please don't make up conclusions based on facts that do not exist.
And honestly, who cares who the internal component looks like?!

it's a good peroforming SSD although I don't really care what my SSD looks liike considering it'll be inside my laptop where I cant see it.

I have the 256 GB version of the 470 SSD and it's a pretty good SSD.
Really nice looking SSD
