I mainly use it to get files off of my cell phone. It's also a quick way to get a PC and Mac to talk to each other if you don't have any cables and you don't want to bother learning the finer points of wireless networking.

-Wireless communication with PC input and output devices, the most common being the mouse, keyboard and printer.

You don't need bluetooth to have wireless mouse and keyboard do you??

Bluetooth headphones perhaps? Always fun listening to music wirelessly.

Mouse so you don't need an external receiver in one of your usb ports.

It all depends on which mouse or keyboard you got. If you get a bluetooth keyboard or mouse, you need bluetooth on the laptop, easy as that... If you get a wireless mouse or keyboard which isn't bluetooth you need whatever comes with that, and plug it in via usb.

it simply is a mode of wireless connection. the bluetooth in a computer receives "bluetooth" signals thus allowing you to connect bluetooth devices to your computer. mouse, cellphone etc

I use it to send files from my laptop to my cell phone... I still haven't figured out how to do it the other way...

As Michael.K pointed out, if you have an external USB mouse/keyboard, you don't need bluetooth. Lots of laptops don't have bluetooth. It's just another way of doing it, and has other applications, such as the mentioned transfer between laptop and cell phone, bluetooth headphones, and so on.

    Cheers...
