Before I upgraded to Vista, I had XP Pro. I had the Realtek HD audio drivers, and I could select 5.1 surround, 7.1 surround, etc... tons of options. Now, I have Vista... I got the latest drivers from Realtek's site, and in the audio manager program thing, the box which should let me select my speaker configuration is grayed out and only shows stereo. In games, like life-life 2, it lets me choose 5.1, but when I return to the menu, 2 speaker is selected again.

    Why????????

I had the same problem with my toshiba R20 tablet. Supposedly the fix was to reinstall XP and make sure the MUTE was not on and then reinstall vista. Sucks I know..although we will know soon enough as I am currently installing vista as I type this.

That's crazy! I did a clean install of Vista, so that couldn't have been the problem though :(

    Help me.
