So I was the OP, the thread posted empty, and in a nutshell I was asking:
- Are there any recommendations for SSDs larger than 256 GB that stay within reasonable prices? A lot of SSD's, like the Samsung 830 and Intel drives, actually scale worse when hitting larger capacities.
- Sandforce drives look tempting, but I've heard bad things about them. Are these claims overblown or still relevant? They have the best prices as far as I've seen (OCZ Agility and Mushkin)

+1 to the M4. If you can catch a good sale on the Samsung 830 jump on it, but the M4 is a solid, proven drive.
As saturnotaku said, Sandforce is better than it was, but still not great on the reliability end. I'd steer clear personally. The fact that Sandforce refused to admit there was even a problem with their controller for nearly a year is cause for concern. -
830 is very solid, so is the M4. Note that my Chronos Deluxe 240GB has been behaving perfectly as well, but you'll be taking a chance with Sandforce if you get a Chronos Deluxe.

830 is quite fast. M4 is fast too, but 830 seems to take the cake.

The Crucial M4 is the cheapest 512GB one you're going to find that has good performance. The OCZ Vertex4 was under $570 for a while but has gone back up in price (though it does perform much better). If you see the words "SandForce" run very quickly in the other direction.
Reasonable and over 256GB SSD?
