I've got a Dell I6000 and I want to use it as my "Frankenstein" laptop. So the first thing I want to do is upgrade the CPU to a P8600 (because I'm ordering m17x and will be upgrading that to QX9300). I know I'm prolly gonna need to get a new motherboard but I'm not sure which ones will fit in the I6000 or which are compatible with the P8600.

I'm new to this but I want to learn a lot more. Can anyone give me a website for this (compatibility)? Or point me in the right direction?

The Inspiron 6000 only supports Pentium M. Period. You're not going to find a motherboard that'll fit in the Inspiron 6000 that'll take a P8600. Period. You might be able to use Inspiron 6400 motherboards with some modifications, but even those'll only take up to a T7600.
