    Has anyone bought recertified hard drive?

    Recommend or not?

    When a harddrive goes bad, usually it is the circuit board (logic controller) which goes bad. So when they get reconditioned, a new board is installed. Basically the drive is then as good as new.
    If the drive died because it fell then its a different story. I am guessing that new heads are installed. I am not sure about this one, cause in reality its easier to just throw out the drive and give you one which had a replacement circui board installed.

    with 1Tb drives running at U$100- each, why bother with recert?
