I recently bought this Samsung DVD burner http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...LightScribe%20ReWriter%20(Black)%20-%20Retail
Without realising it needed external power.
I really want one I can run off just USB with similar capabilities, what are my options?

The LG GSA-E50L and -E50N run off USB but Overclockers have no stock at the moment. I bought the E50L a few months back because I wanted a slim Lightscribe burner to put into my notebook.
An alternative is the new Liteon DX-8A1H. Dabs say it is coming soon. The previous Liteon slim external burners used a small PSU but this is a new design and there's no mention of a PSU.
There's also a Samsung slim burner. The SE-T084M is new. The info here looks to be an edit of the SE-T084L which would run on USB power but only at half speed. I don't know if the M version is better in this respect.

Luckily I've found the same LiteOn writer here - CD-Writer.com
Think I'll be getting this one.
Cheers for the recommendation. -

You might want to ask them whether or not it will run off USB power or includes a PSU. I can't find a definite statement anywhere about this.
Or the LG GSA-E50N is available at UKDVDR (but not very cheap).

Lite-On makes top of the line burners. You won't be disappointed!

Any other suggestions, needs to be USB powered and not as expensive as the LG! -

You may want to put the same question to some other people who offer the Liteon burner.
A possible alternative is to get your own enclosure and optical drive. I found this enclosure but there is a warning about problems with some tray-loading drives. Maybe there are other enclosures.

Am now waiting for Overclockers to get the LG GSA-E50L back in stock. -

Thanks for the feedback on the Liteon. I'm surprised.
The E50L is in stock at Scan. Overclockers is also showing stock.
