It usually does say the power output on the hubs. Or just get another usb cable, I've got one that got 2 male adaptor on them. So my hdd caddy can get 2 usb slot if it isn't enough. They are dirt cheap too instead of carrying another hub.

You could try wearetheborg, decent powered USB hubs run about $20 nowadays, and we could all use more USB slots! Ironically, the better USB hubs strictly limit the current on its ports so that you don't gain any additional power to run the drive. Maybe someone knows a good one that doesn't?

Just get one of the USB drives that has duel USB connectors. Most use 1 USB as power and 1 for data transfer. I know it is inconvenient taking up 2 usb slots, but that saves the power adapter. If it's a 4200 rpm drive, then you may be able to use it with a single usb cable.
Check newegg, they have a ton on there that are usb or firewire powered. With firewire, you must have the full 6 pin connector, not the mini 4 pin.

I bought this one and it's awesome:
    Macally drive
Works perfectly with my 60 gig 7200 rpm drive. Worth every penny as I can power it through firewire.

Heh, btw, I was playing Dark Messiah of might and magic off the drive :-D

Unfortunately I have already bought the western digital one. WD does have a dual usb connector, but they sell it seperately, and its out of stock now. Anyone know where else I can get that connector from ?

Any External USB 2.0 Hub with an External power adapter should be able to power that drive, just try to get the specifications for it to match the specs of your HD.

You dont need a dual connector unless you are trying to power it off an unpowered USB port. On a laptop that rarely happens however if you still want a USB hub consider a cooler/hub (you happen to be one of the unlucky ones lol). Kill two birds with one stone.
