    I just ordered a Lenovo X61 and need to get and external DVD/CD burner to load Linux and burn data.

    Any recommendations? Brand? Slot-Load vs. Tray? Price? Vendor?

    do you mean an external 5.25" enclosure + burner or a slim burner?

    A decent enclosure like the Vantec Nexstar DX and Pioneer 212D or Lite-On A203AP would be a good combo.
