Yea, wondering if anyone knew of a good extrernal HD(250GB+) that was any extra features, like tv-out. or capturing straight to the HD? some audio/visual plug?
i heard of the LaCie device, but seems way to expensive for the amount of space, just looking for something practical, it doesnt have to play it the movie, just some features for capturing.
if not, it looks like ill roll with the WD 250Gb for $99

ill check these out. the "media-gate" harddrive looks impressive already. thanks for the links.
edit: the WD deal ended hours after i posted the topic, the price is back to $156 -
the media gate one looks nice. some expensive products, $110 minutes for case, but it has a ton of features, i guess you get what you pay for.
ill looking for something more along the lines of a usb tv tuner + HD and laptop should do some good capturing. i would need a cable box for that setup tho. -
just checking the topic since im comparing the video capture drives here to the My Book 500GB drive on sale this week at Best Buy for $200
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7783552&type=product&id=1142290230595&ref=06&loc=01
right now i figure the video cap drive might be too expensive compared to this deal, so most likely will be walking out of the store with this by the end of the day. -

^^notes that editor's review is glowing except for the slow loading off usb drive, but the user review are little too mixed for me, not liking it....plus i have media center and can easily copy movies using a usb tv tuner.....hmm... -
if you guys wanna know, i actually ordered the amazon.com drive today. yea its less space, but the dual option(usb/firewire) Safe Shutdown feature, and better programs (Retrospect Backup VS the Google Software in the MyBook) put it over the top.
still wish it was more than 250GB for the dual option, hopefully it should be enough.
Recommendations for a big external hard drive with extra features(tv tuner/capture)
