I'm looking to replace the HDD in my Toshiba A505-S6969 with a SSD to improve performance. Based on the spec sheet it looks like I have to go with a standard SATA SSD.

Which SSD would you guys recommend? I'm aiming to spend around $150-200.

I'm thinking of getting the Intel 320 here. Is it compatible? Any thoughts?

Any SATA II ssd will work and SATAIII ssd is backward compatible and will work at SATAII speed, Intel 320 is fine, others to consider Crucial or Samsung 470.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm leaning towards the Crucial M4 128GB drive based on other threads I've read around here.

Any tips on moving my existing installation of Windows 7 from my old HDD to the SSD?

If you look around certain SSDs come with the cloning kit. Its a simple program on an included CD/DVD along with the usb cable to attach to the new ssd. It takes about half hour to complete cloning. Then take out old drive insert new ssd.

This is the one I used:

Have a look at this thread (Post 3 by Muchchan), I don't think it's widespread problem but worth reading. There's a deal from Newegg looks good:
Newegg.com - SAMSUNG 470 Series MZ-5PA128Z 2.5" 128GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - Internal SSD

If you purchase an Intel SSD, just use the included data cable and Intel's migration software. It works just fine.
