I have a Vostro 1500 running Vista, and a built in microphone that works fine for MSN recordings or conversations. Im trying to find out how I can either make recordings and same them to my computer, or even better speak into the microphone and have it play out of the speakers. The brand of driver is Sigmatel if that helps.
    TIA :)

Under Start-Accessories there should be a sound recorder, you can record with your microphone there....

Go to Control Panel, Sound &...., Voice, Test hardware. At some point during the testing you will be able to hear your own voice.

Use audacity (free) or any sound recording program. Enable a option called "monitoring" or something similar. You'll then be able to hear yourself through speaker and record at the same time.

If you want professional recording then try sound probe or sound forge.
    They are sweet.
