What paste is the best?
What size is the ram chips?
So that I can get them pads
Or switch to paste on them?
Also Can lapping be attempt on laptop heatsinks?

- brand comparisons yield little or no differences in heat dissipation
- not sure what you're talking about here; SDRAM or VRAM?
- if the heatsink has thermal pads, applying paste will not work b/c of the larger gap between the chip die and HS -
1 -> Get a good brand paste, MX-4, ICD7 or some of the others people ehre recommend
2 -> If you mean the VRAM, on the 5870, it's usually 2 rows of 4 memory chips.
3 -> If the gap is too high, as bog said, paste won't do, but it's safe to assume that either 1mm or 0.5mm pads will fit nicely. -

If your vRAM is overheating... This only happens in rare circumstances like with Qimonda gddr5... You can use thermal paste and copper shims in place of thermal pads.
The difference is HUGE. Copper really does the job better.
