Well, I've got about 7-8 hours till my computer finishes converting my 149GB Windows partition to 64k cluster size.
I chose to do it because you know in HD Tune, you can choose block size for testing, well my hard drive appears to perform best at 64 KB and above. Hopefully the blocks and clusters are aligned.![]()
Anyways, are there any real/noticable advantages to doing this?
Also, are there any disadvantages? (besides the loss of space)
On a side note, hopefully Vista will be able to boot after this..

I only glazed over the article, but I think general gist is that it's not going to matter much... -
Wow that article/letter is recent... I could only find stuff from around 2002-2003...
Ah well... I guess I'll go to sleep for 6 hours 41 minutes and 51 seconds..
And apparently I can't give you any more rep.
Thanks.
edit: 6 hours 47 minutes and 39 seconds... hard-drive gets slower when reading across the disk..
edit2: just went down to 06:24:40
edit3: 4 hours 40 mins remaining (lol why didn't I go to sleep) -
Just to put this in perspective, the time you're going to spend converting the cluster size is going to be longer than the time you gain because of the performance boost.
