Crucial, kingston, and corsair were the most recommended ones to me. Also, no matter what brand you buy, stay away from the "value" line of ram that many manufacturers (kingston and corsair included) sell at a cheap price.

www.newegg.com is a good place to get RAM.

I bought a gig of Kingston off of NewEgg. Great price and not a complaint. I bought the Kingston Value RAM and I have yet to have an issue with it.

Value RAM tends to work alot better in laptops than in desktops. For a desktop i'm always looking for which IC's they have, wht PCB and chips it uses, voltage max and timings, etc. with a laptop i just want compatible RAM with decent timings...since overclocking is pretty much out of the question for many of the mainstream notebooks.

I'm using crucial and usually do (its a local company so I like to support it since its great anyway) kingston is also good. If you want the absolute best though-like lets say you play games etc. then go corsair.
