I think a better question is why you feel it's neccessary to remove the battery from your notebook to begin with?

I always remove my battery when plugged in. My gf bought a brand new laptop after I did and never removed hers out even when I warned her. She now has a dead battery and mine is still kicking.

Then she either had a bum laptop or battery or used hers on battery all the time and you didn't, because that is more the exception than the norm. I've used dozens of laptops and NEVER removed the battery for ANY reason with varying use patterns and never had any battery with more than 10-12% wear after a year. Even with heavy use on battery.

Clevo M860TU 8 cell used for 4 years now, never took it out. Wear is under 25%. Only thing I did was to rarely do a discharge on it.

Dell XPS 9 cell as a back-up, 2 or 3 years old, storage at ~50% charge in a cool place, works like new, wear is 4%.

I wouldn't remove the battery, but have heard that you should keep lithium batteries between 25% and 75% as charging beyond 75% is stressful on the battery. The charges should also be in like 25% percent increments. Some one can contradict me if I am in the wrong.
