    Hi guys.

Here's the deal: I want to completely disable/remove both of my notebook's internal fans and rely on external desktop fans instead. I never move my w860cu from the desk so I am working on a solution that will reduce the noise levels by introducing quieter fans.

Now, when I try removing the fans the machine will bott, but when I enter windows and the temps rise a bit it will start beeping.

So far I've managed to work around this with the CPU-fan. My notebook has a "silent mode" that fixes the fan speed for the Cpu fan. When I press this the beeping stops and the notebook works perfectly. After running BF3 for 20 minutes or so I maxed out around 70 degrees on the CPU, using nothing but external fans.

The main problem is the GPU-fan. The fan speed cannot be set, so the machine will notice when the fan is not responding (missing).

Does anyone know a work-around for this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, if it is that much of an annoyance, I'd look for a PC without fans. Disabling the fans on your notebook sounds like a crazy idea that will come back to bite you when the notebook fails....

Hey tim. Thanks for your reply. I know this would be considered a bad idea by many, but I'm not looking for advice on whether it is or not.

I am only asking if it is possible to do so, as it would suit my needs. Buying a new notebook without fans certainly won't help as I'm not willing to sacrifice performance.

If anyone knows any guides/tutorials on how to transform a notebook to something more similar to a desktop that would be appreciated. Of course I understand that the w860cu never will be able to use desktop parts, I just want it to run quieter/cooler by adding a custom cooler and disabling the internal fans.
