    A bit of research into it seems like the "K3VLAR" is simply a Renice X3 with a special coating on it for moisture protection?

    That does sound familiar... i think i saw it either in the thread i linked, or elsewhere in the Lenovo section. But if moisture was to reach your mSATA SSD, you'd probably have bigger problems with the laptop at that point...

    Yeah, I didn't get it for the special coating, I got it because it was the only model in stock at a place not overseas. ;)
