I was wondering if it is possible to replace say a Celeron 550 with a 533MHz FSB with a Core 2 Duo with an 800MHz FSB.

Probably. The CPU you mention is socket P if I am right.
It may be possible to try a T7100, T7250, T7300, T7500, T7700, T7800, T8100, T8300, T9300, T9500 and more.
But it depends on the chipset and the BIOS.
So make sure you have the latest BIOS version.
can you tell me what chipset you have? -
I saw the T7250 listed in HP's technical documents, so I'd assume that I could swap that out. I haven't gotten the computer yet, but I believe it uses the Intel 965 chipset. The computer is an HP Compaq 6820s.

Thanks. I've got plenty of time to decide on what processor to get since I won't have the money for it until February at the earliest. I know for a fact that this computer has lots of potential since it has the Radeon 1350 with 128MB dedicated VRAM. The Celeron is what hinders its potential.

If you want it to run cool, see if you can get the T8100 or T8300.

Yeah, not much of a PC gamer when it comes to newer games. I stopped playing computer games when it got to the point where you had to essentially buy at least $200 worth of new hardware every time a new game got released. I've got my PS3 for games now. However, I would assume that a graphics chip that uses dedicated VRAM like the X1350 does would perform much better than the GeForce Go 6150 in my current dv6458se. A freaking GMA X3100 would probably out-perform my 6150! As further comparison, my old MacBook with a 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo, 1GB of RAM, and GMA 950 played WoW better than my dv6458se with it's 2.0GHz Turion64 X2, 2GB RAM, and GeForce Go 6150.
